So you're thinking about a Russian Woman?

It's a grand idea. Finding the perfect mate. A beautiful goddess at your side. From somewhere you got it in your head that she should be Russian. Why not? They are beautiful, warm and very intelligent. Not to mention loyal and genuine. Ok, not all, but much more are than not.

Of course, if you are like I was in the beginning, you are totally unaware of just how different these women really are from their western counterparts. Of course when you think of it, isn't that the whole idea?

Anyway, I first became aware of these differences not after reading various articles, but just a few hours into my visit and meeting the first girls. It seemed like someone had lied to me. These girls weren't the warm wonderful creatures I had read, hoped and dreamed about. They seemed cold, hardly knew any English and took little interest in my being there. Nobody mentioned that part in the articles I read. They were very beautiful though, at least that part was right. I was beginning to think I just wasted a lot of time, money and vacation days. For a short while I began to wonder if the girls back home were really all that bad. Luckily I stuck with it. Not that I had much choice.

I soon discovered that Russian women are mostly very honest in their mannerisms about how they interact with you. They act like they don't know you in the beginning because... they don't know you. Not like in a westernized society where a woman will greet you with that plastic smile and make you think right off you are what she is looking for. Russian women don't tend to hide their expressions or feelings. A Russian woman's apparent cold mannerisms later proves to be to your advantage anyway as they do not tend to strike up conversations with strange men. Especially when they are married.

Tip: If a Russian woman is really interested in you. She will not look at other men. If you catch her doing this when you are in each others company, she is probably not really interested in you.

What you will discover though is that you can not treat Russian women like any other women you have known. You must clear that from your mind. The defenses you have built up over the years will only serve to destroy your chance for a relationship with her. You must re-learn a portion of what you think you know. Suspicious actions of westernized women are meaningless actions by a Russian woman. Their intent behind most things is mostly innocent and to be helpful. They are not versed in the ploys like women you have known. They weren't raised the same, they don't have the same perspective of the world we do. Nor do they have the "All for me" agenda that so many of their western counterparts do. Russian women even still dress to appeal to men. It is refreshing though that their reason to dress nice is to attract men and compete with other women. For this reason alone I recommend that any man that visits goes during the summer months. Also you will get a much better look at your potential bride and she gets a better look at you. If you are a leg man, you must visit in the summer. I never saw so many beautiful legs in my life!

Tip: Never give a Russian woman an even amount of flowers. This is only done for funerals. If you have to get a bouquet of roses, give 11 not 12.

Russian women do have an idea of the kind of man they are looking for. Generally they seek clever, ambitious men with good hygiene, understanding and one who knows his limits. He should be family oriented, however if the woman is over 35, she may consider herself to old for children. So it is for many reasons that they seek foreign men. Not that Russian men are bad, but through the warring years, the alcohol abusers or mafia types, it just does not leave a girl with much of an eligible choice. For this reason Russian men have their pick of the women. Ratios are estimated at six women to every man. This also affords the reputation that Russian men get about being unfaithful, uncaring and abusive. They can afford to be. So the women look elsewhere. This leaves a lot of women looking and men, it leaves us a lot to choose from.

In conclusion, what I found was that Russian women were just as warm as described. That even if they do not know English at all, can pick it up very fast and make wonderful lifetime partners. Natalia and I were married on January 22, 2000.
